The 1975 are teasing new music

The band’s George Daniel teased a snippet of music, with the caption ‘2018’. Bloody heck.

The 1975 are teasing new music

The 1975 - the absolute sneaky-sneaks - appear to be teasing new music and possible release dates for a new album on Instagram. Goodness.

Drummer George Daniel posted a fairly ‘abstract’ looking video on his account, featuring a golden light that swirls in and out of focus, and, erm, Matty Healy playing piano while wearing a very fetching Christmas jumper, and a shot of someone’s Gucci trainers. The video ends with a shot of a laptop’s command key. Instrumental tinkles play throughout. WHAT COULD IT ALL MEAN?!

Not only that, George has also captioned said teaser with the decidedly exciting and to-the-point ‘2018’. A new 1975 album in a year and a bit would certainly tie in with the band’s previous claims that they’re already looking ahead. Matt Healy also tweeted that The 1975 would be sharing new music in 2017 early this year. An EP to tide us over til 2018, anyone?

The 1975 released their last album, the absolutely ridiculously titled ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ back in February. They’re closing out their year with some stonking arena dates in December.

Well, well, well. It’s all happening. Watch the cryptic teaser below.
