James Blake Wins Mercury Prize 2013 With ‘Overgrown’

James Blake has won the Mercury Prize 2013, with his second album ‘Overgrown’. The result was announced this evening (30th October) in a ceremony at London’s Roundhouse.

He beat off competition from bookies’ favourite Laura Mvula, as well as Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Disclosure and Savages, amongst others.

Other winners in recent years include Alt-J (2012), PJ Harvey (2011), The xx (2010), Speech Debelle (2009) and Elbow (2008).
