Listen: Majical Cloudz Streams New Track ‘Savage’

Devon Welsh’s Majical Cloudz deals in vivid, cutting lyrics on his ‘Impersonator’ debut. The Matador-released album’s title is fairly ironic, in some senses. He’s nobody other than himself when he’s up there on stage.

The stage is where new song ‘Savage’ has gained goodness knows how many plays. A post alongside the new track states that ‘Many people have asked me on Tumblr and Twitter what this song is called,’ after hearing it at gigs.

Welsh describes the song to be ‘about letting go of a relationship as it changes and the emotions that go along with that.’

What begins as a distinct, minimal work swells up into a giant choral piece, with the frontman reliving times of being high on LSD / alcohol / chemicals with a close friend and having to let go of said experience.
