Sam Smith Wins Brits Critics’ Choice Award
The ‘Nirvana’ newcomer fought off competition from Chlöe Howl and Ella Eyre.

Following in the footsteps of Adele, Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Emeli bloody Sande is Sam Smith, winner of the 2014 Brits Critics’ Choice Award.
Sam made an initial shortlist of three artists alongside Ella Eyre and DIY cover star Chloe Howl.
The ‘Latch’-guest and ‘Nirvana’ newcomer features in DIY’s Class of 2014 issue. His new single ‘Money On My Mind’ is released on 16th February, set to be followed up by May full-length.
Sam responded to his award by saying: ‘I’m completely overwhelmed! To see my name alongside the list of former winners, artists I admire so much it, is incredible. What an amazing Christmas present. Thank you!’
