Watch Eagulls Perform ‘Possessed’ On Later With Jools Holland

A new series of Later… With Jools Holland kicked off on BBC2 last night and this is the performance everyone’s talking about, with a very precise line splitting opinion down the middle.

Eagulls weren’t ever going to turn up on their UK television debut in polite form. They’d already struck Letterman in the States, gaining Bill Murray tattoos in the process. When they were given a slot just before Engelbert Humperdinck on British television, they didn’t have much choice but to stampede through the studio doors and onto the stage with snarling intensity.

Showcasing ‘Possessed’ from their self-titled debut, the Leeds group went gung-ho in blasting out a chorus of feedback and wailed chants. Not everyone’s cup of tea - Engelbert probably checked his watch a couple of times - but Eagulls have never really been here to make friends.
