Latitude 2016 Pixx gives her Latitude picks ahead of this weekend’s festival

4AD signing talks forests, Kurt Vile and she-pees, for starters.

Latitude has a well-earned rep for giving new headliners their first moment at the top. But it all has to start somewhere. Alongside DIY’s Alcove Stage, buzzy new bands are everywhere; hiding in the forest; blending in with the sheep; glued to a nearby bar.

We’ve picked out some of the best to find out what they’re planning for their first Latitude experience.

Pick of the bunch of Pixx, who in the space of a year has picked up the attention of her label 4AD and the lovely Huw Stephens, who’s given her a slot on Latitude’s Lake Stage.

Hannah Rodgers’ otherworldly pop is perfect for Latitude. You’ll most likely find Pixx jumping on loose branches, having a casual chat with the Suffolk wildlife.

We had a quick catch-up with Pixx ahead of her Sunday set.

Catch up with her latest ‘Baboo’ single, while you’re at it.

What are you most looking forward to at Latitude?

Kurt Vile & the Violators! I’m also really looking forward to Kagoule, and of course The Magic Gang.

The ‘Baboo’ video suggests you’re a big fan of forests, which is a relief given Latitude’s location. Is there not a danger that you might get lost and miss your set?

I will make sure I leave a trail wherever I go so that I can easily retrace my steps… I wouldn’t wanna miss out on playing! I’m so excited.

What else do you have lined up, in terms of new material?

There’s an album on its way. Lots and lots of new songs to play to you all.

What’s the one thing festivals don’t tend to have that they absolutely should?

They should always have a she-pee area for sure.

Pixx plays Latitude Festival’s The Lake Stage on Sunday 17th May.
