A prog music Official Albums Chart exist, and Tame Impala are number one

Tame Impala’sCurrents’ has topped the first ever prog chart, a genre-specific top 10 established by The Official Charts Company and Prog magazine.

Updated monthly, inclusions in the chart are decided by “experts” at Prog magazine, who specify how “prog” a band really is. So far, the chart consists of this month’s Aussie chart-toppers and Muse, Pink Floyd, Public Service Broadcasting and Faith No More.

The prog chart follows in the footsteps of the vinyl album chart, which started back in April.

1. Tame Impala – Currents
2. Muse – Drones
3. Roger Waters – Amused to Death
4. Joe Satriani – Shockwave Supernova
5. Public Service Broadcasting – The Race for Space
6. Faith No More – Sol Invictus
7. Symphony X – Underworld
8. Pink Floyd – The Endless River
9. Tim Bowness – Stupid Things That Mean the World
10. Nightwish – Endless Forms Most Beautiful
