Kevin Parker’s Tame Impala confirms fifth album ‘Deadbeat’
The news follows the release of new single ‘Loser’, the video for which features Joe Keery.

Kevin Parker has offered up a second taste of Tame Impala’s heady next era with new track ‘Loser’ - and its accompanying video features a (very) familiar face.
Landing in the wake of his aptly-named recent single ‘End Of Summer’ - which was the psych favourite’s first solo release in two years - ‘Loser’ is a similarly hypnotic affair that pairs Parker’s distinctive vocals with understated grooves and warm, woozy textures. It’s also the second preview of what’s now been confirmed as his new album ‘Deadbeat’, which is set for release on 17th October via Columbia, following a five year wait since last LP ‘The Slow Rush’ (2020).
In its visualiser for ‘Loser’, we follow the song’s eponymous protagonist - played by none other than Stranger Things actor, musician, and DIY’s April 2025 cover star Joe Keery (aka Djo) - as he contemplates life from a corner shop kerb. Aside from being an amusing vignette of a down-on-his-luck boyfriend, fans have also pointed out that the video is something of a wholesome full-circle moment, given Keery has previously citied Tame Impala as a key musical influence of his.
