Tame Impala returns with new acid house-inspired single 'End of Summer'

Today (Friday 25th July), Tame Impala has returned with his brand single ‘End of Summer’, his first fully solo release in two years.

The track, which also doubles as the first track to be released via his new label home of Columbia Records UK, sees Kevin Parker move away from the warm psychedelia that has come to define his work so far, instead being inspired by the “the deep, rich history of dance music” - from “the acid house summer of ’89, to free parties of the mid-90s”.

While the track also signals the start of a new chapter for Tame Impala - following on from Parker’s last full-length ‘The Slow Rush’, which came out back in 2020 - he’s certainly been busy in the time since, having also worked with the likes of Thundercat, Dua Lipa (with whom he collaborated on last year’s ‘Radical Optimism’) and Justice within the last five years.

As well as the release of ‘End of Summer’, he’s also shared a new, visually-arresting clip for the song, as directed by multi-disciplinary artist Julian Klincewicz. Check it out below.
