Alex Napping bring wistful slacker pop stylings to ‘Living Room’

All the Austin quartet want is a room somewhere…

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Alex Napping. “I can dream everyday about what it’d be like/ For our pictures to share walls and the neighbours to be nice,” swoon Austin quartet Alex Napping on ‘Living Room’ - a yearning ode to suburban life, chock full of Pavement-loving guitars and hazy melancholia. If the happy families in question might not be quite what they seem - ”how can you tell me it’s a bad idea?” singer Alex Cohen laments in the track’s desperate pay-off - then at least the band behind them are the real deal. Cohen’s vocal flits from sing-song sweet to bulging with emotion, while guitarist Adrian Haynes’ strings surge and drop out in tandem. A full record from the band is set for May 5th via Father/Daughter Records and Sports Day. Listen below.
