Alt-J reveal new video for 'Pusher' • News • DIY Magazine

Just a handful of days before Alt-J head off to the BRIT Awards to fight for the titles of British Group and British Album, the band have unveiled their new video for ‘Pusher’.

A rather evocative and ever-so-slightly harrowing clip, its concept was born by the band’s own Joe Newman, alongside director Thomas Rhazi.

“The original idea was Joe’s one,” Rhazi says, in a press release. “It was about a guy breaking his neck in a very poetic way. We spoke about the British Speaker’s Corners - all those men and women in the late 70’s preaching for their own reasons and beliefs. I wanted this film to be very humanist and as deep and simple as it could be.

“The hero does the most excessive act because he can’t do anything else - shaking up people’s minds in those dark and sad times.”

Don’t be fooled: there’s little metaphor when it comes to the video’s concept. Watch the video below.
