Apple Music gained 10 million subscribers in 2016
The streaming wars are heating up.
Apple Music have claimed they’ve gained 10 million more subscribers in 2016.
In January, The Financial Times suggested the service had 10 million subscribers, and a new report by Buzzfeed News says they’ve since gained 10 million more, essentially doubling the number of people paying for the service in less than a year.
The service also has exclusive deals with the likes of Drake and Taylor Swift, and was even in talks to take over Jay-Z’s Tidal streaming service earlier this year.
Streaming rival Spotify announced in September that its paid subscription service – which lets people listen to music ad-free – had more than 40 million subscribers.
In October, Spotify’s Global Head of Creator Services, Troy Carter, also went on the record to support the platform’s free ad-supported service.
Looks like the streaming wars won’t be ending anytime soon.
