Apple reportedly in talks to acquire Tidal
Jay Z’s streaming service relaunched last year.

A new twist in the streaming wars - according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Apple Inc. is in talks to acquire Tidal, the service owned by Jay Z.
Exactly one year on from Apple Music’s own launch, it is believed that Apple and Jay Z are in early negotiations, which “may not result in a deal.”
Tidal itself relaunched back in April 2015, with a star-studded ceremony attended by Madonna, Arcade Fire, Daft Punk and Jack White.
Despite paling in comparison to Spotify and Apple Music in terms of users, Tidal has managed to pull huge exclusives in the last twelve months; Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo’, Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ and Rihanna’s ‘Anti’. Playing a similar card, Apple Music has hosted exclusives from Chance the Rapper and Drake. At this stage, Spotify has opted out of attracting new users by hosting releases exclusively.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
