Ahead of their headline slot at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, Arcade Fire performed a tiny surprise set last night, debuting new material.

The Times-Picayune reports that the show, which took place at Secondline Stages film studio in New Orleans to an audience of just 175 lucky fans, saw the band handing out plastic cups of wine to the crowd, before unleashing their new, post-‘Reflektor’ project. It apparently featured “a sharp focus on heavy topics but percussive-heavy beats and a flavor of disco”, which sounds like a lovely time, in fairness.

Phones were banned at the event, so no dodgy recordings have emerged yet - probably worth keeping an eye on that Voodoo headline slot though. It’s live-streaming here via Yahoo, with Arcade Fire taking to the stage at 8:30pm Central Time / 1:30am GMT.

Arcade Fire’s fifth studio album is potentially set for a spring release, according to the band’s Will Butler.
