Arcade Fire have aired two new versions of ‘I Give You Power’
There’s now an instrumental version and the ‘Broken Speaker Mix’ of the Mavis Staples-featuring single.
After teasing and booking themselves in for a bunch of festivals, Arcade Fire finally returned a little more than a week ago with new track ‘I Give You Power’.
The original track, which featured vocal contributions from soul legend and civil rights activist Mavis Staples, was a semi-industrial disco stomper. The band have now unveiled two new versions of the track. The first is an instrumental, which does exactly what it says on the tin, bringing that creeping, kind of haunting backing track to the forefront.
The second version is a ‘Broken Speaker Mix’, which is both shorter than the original and bathes the whole thing in a fuzzy, glitch-ridden sheen with less bass. It does make Mavis’s creepy breakdown in the middle of the song all the more haunting…
