Arcane Roots: “Every show brings its own unique charm”

The band join We Are The Ocean in Liverpool for this year’s #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour.

It may have been less than eighteen months since the first full-length from Arcane Roots landed in our laps, but it’s safe to say that the band have barely stood still since then. Even with ideas for their second album already planted firmly in their minds, they’re still going, with a handful of live shows – including their appearance on the Dr. Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour – just around the corner.

“This summer we played the last few shows and festivals for our ‘Blood & Chemistry’ album,” offers up the band’s frontman Andrew Groves, ahead of their show in Liverpool. “It’s been an incredible year and we’ve been to places and achieved things that we never thought we’d achieve. We are so grateful and humbled by the response we’ve had from ‘Blood & Chemistry’ and we’ve been honoured to play such prestigious festivals as Download and 2000trees with tents full of fans old and new. We’ve learnt so much from our own experiences and from playing with our peers this past year that we’re desperate to start a new journey and begin our second album.”

That much is evident from the enthusiasm that the band garnered during the recording of their first full-length. “We had such an incredible time recording our debut album that we cannot wait to get back into the studio and bring all the ideas, themes and hopes that we have for the album, to life. Ironically, it is also the only time that we get to be in our band and just play music together in a room, which happens less and less the busier the band gets. It is sometimes easy to forget that the band is the result of three best friends creating music together, and just how magical and rewarding that experience can be. We’re currently demoing our ideas, but there are a lot to chose from and this time round we actually have a much clearer idea of the album process and the precise sound of the album we want to make.”

Even with the follow-up to last year’s ‘Blood & Chemistry’ on their mind, the trio are looking forward to playing their few final shows of 2014. What makes it better is that they’ll be playing alongside their friends in We Are The Ocean. “We met We Are The Ocean at one of the first festivals we’d ever played as a band,” Groves explains, “and became better friends at each event ever since. They also played with us at the Muse stadium dates last summer which was a defining moment for us as a band so we’re excited to see them again and catch up!” As for the #STANDFORSOMETHING show itself, the band have high hopes… “Every show brings it’s own unique charm and benefit, and smaller venues really give us the chance to really be amongst our fans and rock out with them in the crowd, the energy is amplified so much in a smaller setting that they are always memorable, if not a bit sweaty and bloody!”

Arcane Roots will play the Liverpool leg of the Dr. Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour in association with DIY on 11th October, alongside We Are The Ocean.
