Arcane Roots: ‘It Could Not Be More Fitting To Play Our Last Show Of 2012 At The Old Blue Last’

In the run up to DIY’s show with the band at the Old Blue Last tonight, we have a quick catch up with the band.

Arcane Roots are playing their final show of the year for us lot at DIY tonight, so we figured we better check in and find out just how they’re looking forward to it.

‘We first played the Old Blue Last early 2011 with Gallops, just as things were starting to pick up for us as a band, so it could not be more fitting to play our last show of 2012 there, after an incredible year,’ explains frontman Andy Groves, when we ask how the band are feeling in the run up to proceedings. ‘We’re always excited to play a show, but we’re even more excited when it’s our show and we can make it that little bit special and give the audience a little look into our world. If only for 45 loud, sweaty minutes…’

And, what with it being their final show and all, is there anything special we should be expecting? ‘This year has seen our fans and support increase by tenfold so we wanted to pay them back by getting some exclusive art prints made for the night and giving away some one of kind prizes. There may even be some guests…’

Sounds promising! So, what else have you been up to? ‘We’ve spent the later half of 2012 recording out debut album, which will be released spring 2013, so we’re eager to play everyone some new songs from that, as well as the ‘golden oldies’ we’ve made along the way.’

That sounds good to us. If you fancy it too, get down to the Old Blue Last tonight to join in the action. Doors are at 7.45pm, support comes from My First Tooth and Gunning For Tamar and entry is free.
