Are Blur gearing up to announce a new album?

Rumours of a follow-up to the band’s 2003 album ‘Think Tank’ are starting to appear online.

The rumour mill is back in business: are Blur about to announce a new album?

This morning, speculation began when an image of ‘a very exciting album cover’ was featured in Bizarre in The Sun - as pointed out by Associate Head of Showbiz at The Sun, Thomas Thorogood, over on his Instagram account.

Since then, the internet has gone into overdrive, wondering who exactly the album cover belongs to, but Thorogood’s clue goes a little further in its hints. “Very exciting album cover in Bizarre today. Return of an AMAZING band! All revealed later this afternoon.” Just check out his post below.

NME are now reporting that they’ve taken the image to a Mandarin translator, who has assured them that the image reads “blur magic whip” leading them to believe that the album that Blur are allegedly confirming today will be titled ‘Magic Whip’. Duh.

In referencing another hint from The Sun, the paper also claims the act in question are a “massive band” releasing the record “more than a decade after their last full studio release.”

With Blur’s last album ‘Think Tank’ landing all the way back in 2003 - which, you know, also happened to be The Year of the Goat as well - it seems as though the rumours might be stacking up, but who knows. Stay tuned for any further info.
