Austra Confirm New Album, ‘Olympia’, Share New Song, ‘Home’

The follow-up to 2010’s debut ‘Feel It Break’ will be released this June.

Austra have announced details of a new album.

The Toronto-based band - now a definite six-piece formed around singer-songwriter Katie Stelmanis - will unleash ‘Olympia’ this June.

The album, the follow-up to 2010 debut ‘Feel It Break’, will be released via Domino on 17th June.

The record was co-produced by the band, with all instruments played as live in the studio. “Maya played a huge role in the production of the album,” says Katie of drummer Maya Postepski, “There is a major percussive element running through every song. This is the album where we discovered rhythm.”

One of the record’s number, ‘Home’, has been shared online as a preview of the record. And as Katie explains, it’s part of her most confessional work to date. “I was mad and upset and the song just wrote itself’.

Austra are due to appear at this month’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, before heading to Europe for a brief tour - including a London album launch gig at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on 17th June.
