Austra Take Part In Beck’s Green Box Project

Austra are taking part in $Beck$’s Green Box Project, where the beer brand funds a number of art projects and releases them via augmented-reality Green Boxes placed around the country.

Katie Stelmanis & Co. currently have their art featured in a glowing 6.5 foot cube placed in Hoxton Square, Shoreditch, London.

Here’s some information about what they’ve created: ‘Hauntingly beautiful and darkly harmonious, Austra’s operatic experience dives deep into the depths of an otherworldly underwater experience. An epic, pulsating choral score created exclusively for The Green Box Project shapes surreal and abstract bubbles into a sonic sculpture unlike anything else the band have ever visually created. Hidden inspirations draw on old school video games and the ethereal aesthetic of the sea, with Austra’s unique immersive talent for juxtaposing the familiar and the unknown creating a mythical and mystical musical vision.’

To ‘unlock’ the piece fans will need to download $Beck$’s app, where they’ll also be able to find the locations of other boxes, as well as interviews with the artists and behind-the-scenes footage.
