Bastille’s Dan Smith has offered up a few details of their forthcoming second album, in a new interview.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat ahead of the band’s recent appearance at Boardmasters festival, the frontman opened up about the follow-up to their 2013 debut ‘Bad Blood’, saying “we don’t want to repeat ourselves.”

“We don’t have any guitars on the first record, we very much do on the next one,” he went further. “We don’t want to kill what we have done already, we are not looking to reinvent the Bastille sound, but we don’t want to repeat ourselves.”

“We just wanted to wear our influences a lot more obviously. So if we were gesturing towards a hip hop beat then we sampled a hip hop beat, whereas on the first album we might have hid that a bit more.”

The band have also been on the road throughout the summer; during their sets they’ve been debuting some of their new material.

The band’s second album follows on from their debut ‘Bad Blood’ and their more recent mixtape ‘VS.’ which featured collaborations with the likes of Angel Haze, Haim and Grades. It’s set to be produced by their longterm collaborator Mark Crew.
