Beck Working On ‘Standard Format’ New Album?

Shock! Awe! Beck might just be following up 2008’s ‘Modern Guilt’ with an actual, real album!

While down under for an appearance at music festival Harvest, he told Australian radio station triple j he’d been working on songs for years, just hadn’t found the time to complete them.

He said, ‘I started a record, largely recorded in 2008, so I’m trying to carve out some time from all the production work I’m doing to finish those songs before they become records from a lost era. It’s going on a half decade at this point’

He also - notably, given this year’s ‘Song Reader’ being issued via sheet music alone - added that he’ll release the new material in ‘pretty much standard format’.

Since the release of ‘Modern Guilt’, Beck has produced records for Thurston Moore, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jamie Lidell, and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks.

He recently contributed tracks to the PlayStation game Sound Shapes, released Third Man Records single ‘I Just Started Hating Some People Today’, and - of course - released ‘Song Reader’.
