Benjamin Clementine announces new EP, streams ‘Edmonton’ track

New EP ‘Glorious You’ is released this August.

Benjamin Clementine waxes poetic prose over his new track ‘Edmonton’, which arrives half spoken-word, half belted out from the top of the Londoner’s lungs.

The new song leads an EP released on 27th August, titled ‘Glorious You’. It’s Clementine’s first since signing to Virgin/EMI and links up with the ‘Cornerstone’ debut, which came out in the beginning of 2013.

‘Edmonton’ might be the most vividly told of Clementine’s songs to date, with political references and impassioned cries splintering off behind the most basic piano line the guy’s even penned.

The track, of course, is named after Benjamin’s suburb of North London, Edmonton. It’s “where the youths are apparently said to be quite rowdy and criminal minded,” he says. “But as my English literature teacher once remarked; ‘there are no requisite differences between hearsays and where frogs play; they are all full of categorical shit’.”
