Benny Mails keeps it in the family in the video for ‘I Blocked My Dealer’

The dancer and MC’s new clip is a look into London’s underground with his crew.

How often have you seen someone trained to a high level in the art of contemporary dance and breakdancing also drop a killer single? Never? Benny Mails is about to surprise you then.

His first official single ‘I Blocked My Dealer’ is filled with trap beats and slick rhymes that exposes some of the grime within London. By the end, Benny is spitting fire like it’s nobody’s business. The track has quickly gained fans in Jorja Smith and Loyle Carner, and it’s not hard to hear why.

Talking to i-D, Benny explained that the track was inspired by having “crack smoke being blown in me and one of my closest friends faces walking past some guys in Whitechapel, it was grimey, just the idea of it gave me chills and more ideas”. Yeah, sounds grim, and gives a bit of an explanation as to why the track is backed by a kind of creepy xylophone melody.

Benny’s kept it close to home for the new video, bringing in his crew and family members to create a clip that emphasises togetherness. Watch the video for ‘I Blocked My Dealer’ below.
