Big Thief release ‘Passional Relations’ EP in aid of LA fire relief efforts
All proceeds from the project will go towards providing help for those impacted by the recent Californian wildfires.

Big Thief have dropped a surprise EP entitled ‘Passional Relations’, a charity release intended to raise money for organisations helping LA communities affected by recent wildfires, which swept California in January.
The trio last released music back in 2023 - the standalone singles ‘Vampire Empire’ and ‘Born For Loving You’ - while their most recent album, ‘Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You’, arrived in 2022. In the meantime, frontwoman and vocalist Adrianne Lenker has shared her latest solo LP, ‘Bright Future’ (2024), and also headlined last year’s Green Man festival.
Of their new five-track project, the band have said: “Our hearts are broken for everyone affected by the fires in California. We’ve put together some of our favorite unreleased songs into an EP called ‘Passional Relations’, only available on our webstore, and all proceeds will go toward providing relief for those impacted by the fires in Los Angeles.”
Big Thief have confirmed that the majority of money raised from the EP will be donated to the Plus1LA Fires Fund, while the remainder will go towards giving support to musicians, artists, and members of the local community. The band hope that “these contributions will not only help address the crucial and immediate needs of affected communities but also help sustain the work, identity, and culture of the artists within them.”
