Black Honey are back, back, back! After signalling an initial return with the announcement of a UK tour back in March, Izzy B Phillips and co have now shared a new track!

‘Bad Friends’ follows 2017 singles ‘Dig’ and ‘Somebody Better’, and sees the band heading down a distinctly poppier path. If we’re honest, it sounds a bit like something lifted from Charli XCX’s ‘Sucker’ (which is as wonderful as it sounds).

We spoke to the band about the new single, their 2018 plans and plenty more.

View the UK dates, listen to ‘Bad Friends’ and read our lil’ chat with the band, all below.

MAY
09 Hull, Welly Club
10 Stoke, Sugarmill
11 Sheffield, Leadmill
13 Cardiff, The Globe
14 Oxford, O2 Academy 2
15 Portsmouth, Wedgewood Rooms

You’ve got a new single in the world! Can you tell us a little bit about ‘Bad Friends’?

You’ve got a new single in the world! Can you tell us a little bit about ‘Bad Friends’?

Bad Friends is our Frankenstein’s monster that we made after listening to hip hop records and were inspired by bad romances with the wrong kind of people.

And on the subject, in your humble opinion, who is the worst Friend from the hit TV show ‘Friends’?

Hahaha we think Monica because she’s competitive and selfish… though everyone’s allowed bad qualities right?

Now the new single’s out, what’s your plan moving forward into summer?

We hit up UK tour next week in Stoke, Hull, Oxford, Cardiff, Portsmouth and Sheffield has already sold out! We really kick off the summer supporting Queens Of The Stone Age at Finsbury Park then we have a million festivals coming up too like Latitude, Bestival, Kendal Calling, 2000 trees, Tramlines, Electric Fields and Truck.

And can we expect any more new music soon?

Yeah we are gonna be dropping new tunes across the summer but I can’t reveal too much at this stage! Except I can tell you to be ready for announcements and that you should expect the unexpected!
