DIY have the first look at the smoky, spooky new vid from the trio, along with a quick Q&A.

Blaenavon throw an early Hallowe'en party in their 'Hell Is My Head' video

Youth is on Blaenavon’s side with the new ‘Hell is My Head’ video, premiering below exclusively on DIY. The trio may have only just stepped free of their college commitments, but they’re still relishing in reckless parties and neighbour-bothering house shows.

This isn’t any old knees-up though: it’s all a bit spooky. Smoke fills the room from the off, and there’s an eerie sense that not everything is as it seems as the band thrash through the track in front of a hypnotised handful of onlookers. Also, only one person’s dancing, so there’s something up for sure.

Recently signed to Transgressive, the video comes ahead of Blaenavon’s London date at The Waiting Room this Thursday 8th October and the release of their new EP ‘Miss World’ on October 30th.

DIY had a quick chat with the band about the video other such fun - check that out below. If you fancy catching Blaenavon live, here’s a handy list of dates to help you do just that:

What was it like making the video?
It was a bit of a strange day. We were supposed to be having some kind of party but too many people turned up for the free booze. In the end they had to leave, so the video is just us and a couple of bored onlookers sucking on citrus Carlsberg’s. Life was easier that way.

How did you come to work with Katia Ganfield?
We’ve known Katia for years now and have been trying to make a video together for some time. She’s nicely out-there and also very professional. We were going to go to Morocco and just film some spoony bullshit but that would have been neither productive nor frugal. We got together and decided Brighton was a safer bet.

Your last video was almost 2 years ago - where have you been?
We had to graduate from college. After that we spent a lot of time writing and demoing album stuff, before sorting out plans for the actual recording. Things took longer that we’d hoped but are now trotting along nicely.

What’s the song about?
Vampire love triangle.

You’re also making your live return on Thursday at Waiting Room - looking forward to it?
Yep. It’s going to be JUST. Hopefully some homegrown heroes will turn up and maybe we’ll sell a few t-shirts.

What have you got coming up next?
We’re about to tour with Songhoy Blues and put the EP out. Then the recording of our album begins with Jim Abbiss in November and December. Afterwards I’d imagine a lot of touring throughout 2016, in which our journey to becoming seasoned débauchés shall begin.
