Bobby Womack passes away aged 70
Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack has passed away at the age of 70, according to his label XL Recordings.

Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack has passed away at the age of 70, according to his label XL Recordings (via Rolling Stone).
Womack penned numerous hit records over his half a century long career, from The Rolling Stones’ first hit ‘It’s All Over Now’ to ‘If You Think You’re Lonely Now’. In recent years he underwent somewhat of a resurgence, working with Damon Albarn on a new solo record ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe’.
Womack was reported to be midway through work on the follow up, with contributions rumoured from Snoop Dogg, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder.
Diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012, Womack was also reported to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and through the Eighties struggled with drug addiction, though XL state the cause of death is currently unknown.
