Caroline Polachek shares new tracks ‘Parachute’ & ‘Ocean of Tears’

The former Chairlift vocalist has offered up more tracks from her forthcoming album ‘Pang’.

Caroline Polachek has shared two new tracks, from her forthcoming solo album ‘Pang’.

‘Parachute’ and ‘Ocean of Tears’ both follows on her previous single, ‘Door’, which was released last month.

‘Parachute’ sees the former Chairlift vocalist team up with producer Danny L Harle, and its lyrics are a “direct transcription” of a dream she had recently.

“It was an incredible moment,” she has said, in a press release, “realising that this melody we’d written was unintentionally re-telling a dream I’d been shaken by. I went home, re-drafted the words to fit, and came back to the studio at 1am to record the vocal the same day. And that’s the take we kept. From that moment on, Dan and I knew we had a lot more work to do together. ‘Parachute’ is about the total trust that only comes with total emergency,” she continues. “Like a mayfly trying its wings for the first time over a large body of water full of hungry fish… and the wings work.”

‘Ocean Of Tears’ also features bass from Danny L Harle and guitars from NYC experimentalist Eartheater, as well as additional production from A.G. Cook. “‘Ocean Of Tears’ is dedicated to the sharp pain of being in love with someone far away, and the maddening doubt that comes with it,” she commented on the track. “I’d really like someone to figure skate to this at the 2022 Winter Olympics.”

Her new album ‘Pang’ is due for release later this year via Columbia Records. Hear ‘Parachute’ and ‘Ocean of Tears’ below.
