Charli XCX and Mr Oizo share ‘Hand in the Fire’ collaboration

Charli XCX and French producer Mr Oizo have shared their collaboration ‘Hand in the Fire’. It’s the title-track from the well-known Ed Banger producer’s new EP.

Like everything Charli XCX puts her hand to, there’s a playful contrast between the bubble-gum coloured front, and the low-key lyrical lewdness; like former Mickey Mouse Club stars on a debauched trip to the neon-lit basement bars of Soho. Meanwhile, Mr Oizo splices sickly-sweet chants against his trademark springy handle on electronica. In other words, it’s ace.

Charli has long been an admirer of the French label, and when she chatted to DIY last year she spoke about how it influences her music. “I think I’ve always been very inspired by Paris,” she said. “With my first record I was very inspired by Ed Banger.”
