Charli XCX crashes homecoming school dance in the States

Turns out Charli XCX does actually quite want to go to school. She also wants to break the rules. For example, last night at California’s Aspire Pacific Academy’s “homecoming dance” in Huntington Park, she turned up out of the blue to play an impromptu gig.

Arriving to perform three songs (‘I Love It’, ‘Fancy’ and ‘Boom Clap’) she then went on to pose for photos with fans before playing a set in the DJ booth. This wasn’t 100% spontaneous, mind you - she was promoting Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance 15’

The performance arrived a couple of months ahead of Charli’s ‘Sucker’ album release - it’s out 16th December in the States, while it’s slated for a 26th January release in the UK.

DIY’s cover feature with Charli XCX captures the best pop star in the world, someone on the brink of all-out stardom. Read the interview here.

Charli XCX’s next (proper) UK show is at London Heaven, 30th October.
