Charli XCX hits top ten with 'Boom Clap'

Charli XCX is celebrating her first UK top ten single with ‘Boom Clap’.

The track, taken from the soundtrack for John Green film adaptation The Fault in Our Stars, rose 152 places following its release proper to Number 6 in the Official Singles Chart. The Number 1 slot is taken by Cheryl Cole with ‘Crazy Stupid Love’.

“Number one songs aren’t the top of my to-do list,” Charli told DIY earlier this month. “I wanna put my record out and have as many people hear it as possible. If that leads to number one singles or whatever, then that’s awesome.”

In the album charts La Roux debuts at Number 6 with ‘Trouble In Paradise’, with King Creosote at 21 with ‘From Scotland With Love’ and Biffy Clyro’s B-sides record ‘Similarities’ at 28. Ed Sheeran remains at the top for the fifth week with his second album ‘X’.
