Cheatahs stream new song, ‘Sunne’
It’s the title track from the band’s forthcoming EP.
Back in November, London-based fuzz fans Cheatahs announced they’d be releasing a new EP in early 2014. It was the band’s first new material since their self-titled debut album, released back in February 2014 (Read an interview with the band, as featured in the February 2014 issue of DIY, here).
The ’Sunne’ EP is set for release on 23rd February via Wichita Recordings, features the previously shared ‘Controller’ - which has since been given video treatment - as well as ‘Campus’, ‘No Drones’ and the title track, ‘Sunne’.
“Sunne is partly an attempt to encapsulate the feelings I had when I read (Hemingway’s) The Sun Also Rises, a book that had quite a profound effect on me.” says Cheatahs guitarist James Wignall. “We ran the guitars through a very cheap (and slightly broken) recorder onto old cassette tape, which evokes a bittersweet end-of-day feeling, as if the sun were setting.”
It’s that song which the band are sharing this time around, hear ‘Sunne’ below.
Cheatahs play Power Lunches in London on 24th February.
