Chic share new ‘I’ll Be There’ single, video starring Karlie Kloss
Nile Rodgers is also streaming tonight’s London Roundhouse show live.
Chic feat. Nile Rodgers have unveiled ‘I’ll Be There’, a discotastic new single heralding the first Chic-affiliated album in thirteen years, ‘It’s About Time’.
Streaming below via Spotify, an accompanying video for ‘I’ll Be There’ is up on Chic’s Facebook. Directed by Inez & Vinoodh, it starts Karlie Kloss.
The new song is a “moving concept for me about decisions we make in life,” says Rodgers. Inspiration for the track stemmed from a Sister Sledge session, and it’s titled after the moment he discovered the body of Chic co-founder Bernard Edwards in 1996.
“Back in the day ‘Nard always looked out for me. I was the reckless one. We had lots of fun and good times. So on the song’s surface it’s really happy. It’s about the origin of CHIC, and how dance music changed our lives forever,” Nile says.
To coincide with the vernal equinox, the new single’s been released today.
Later today, Chic’s gig at London Roundhouse will be streamed live.
