Chris Martin reveals David Bowie turned down Coldplay collaboration
Martin revealed the rejection at last week’s BBC Music Awards.
Last week, Chris Martin revealed that a collaboration between Coldplay and David Bowie was rejected by Bowie, because the track was not good enough. Martin revealed the experience at the BBC Music Awards during a video tribute to Bowie:
“One time I sent him [Bowie] a song to ask him to sing on it…he called me and said, ’It’s not one of your best.’ He’s got very high standards and I appreciate that. It inspires the rest of us to keep our standards high”
Martin went on to state his admiration for Bowie’s latest album ‘The Next Day’, especially his comeback single ‘Where Are We Now?’. “When that came out I was staggered, and also annoyed…like, ‘Come on, it’s not fair.’ He’s already got all these amazing songs and then this instant classic.”
