CMAT shares latest track feat. John Grant, ‘Where Are Your Kids Tonight?’
It’s the third single from her upcoming sophomore album, ‘Crazymad, For Me’.
Breakout Irish star CMAT has shared a new song, ‘Where Are Your Kids Tonight?’, which features one of her own musical heroes, John Grant. It’s the third single to be taken from her second album - due in October - following ‘Whatever’s Inconvenient’ and ‘Have Fun!’.
Speaking about the track, CMAT explains: “I wrote this song when I realised I had turned into my mother. It’s kind of inspired by this image I had of entering a waterfall-like portal from an Irish kids’ show called ‘Foreign Exchange’ where I’m looking at 1988 and 2023 at the exact same time every time I look at myself in the mirror. To quote a TikTok comment I saw recently: ‘The human experience is absolutely fucking wild’”.
The release follows her rapturously received set on Glastonbury’s Woodsies Stage, as well as slots supporting Florence + The Machine in Dublin and Belfast. The accompanying video - featuring both CMAT and John - is an 80s-inspired vignette, paying homage to Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson’s ‘I Know Him So Well’.
CMAT’s sophomore record, ‘Crazymad, For Me’ is out on 13th October via AWAL Recordings. Catch her live on her headline tour of the UK and Ireland later this year - get tickets here.
