Crystal Castles announce first live shows without Alice Glass
They’re playing a couple of South African dates this month, along with SXSW next year.
Crystal Castles have announced their first live shows without former frontwoman Alice Glass. She quit the project in October last year, citing “both professional and personal” reasons. By February this year, she was at work on her own solo material, which apparently sounds “like a kitten eating their hoarding owners after they die.” Nice.
Ethan Kath is continuing the Crystal Castles project with new vocalist Edith, and said earlier this year that they are back in the studio working on a new record. After various back and forth exchanges, Kath sort-of apologised for earlier remarks about Glass, saying “I have no desire to throw any shade.” He added, “I encourage everyone to anticipate Alice’s solo music, I’m excited for it myself.”
Now Crystal Castles have announced their first live shows without Alice Glass. They’re playing a couple of festivals in South Africa this month; Johannesburg’s SoundsWild (November 27), and Synergy Live in Cape Town (November 28). They are also on the line-up for next year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas.
