Crystal Castles are back in the studio without Alice Glass
“I have no desire to throw any shade,” added Ethan Kath, who is back in the studio with a new vocalist called Edith.
In a new interview, Crystal Castles’ Ethan Kath has spoken out about the current commotion surrounding his project, and the departure of vocalist Alice Glass. He also revealed that he is back in the studio with a new vocalist called Edith, and working on new material.
“‘Frail’ was recorded recently and released as a message that we are in studio writing and recording a new album,” Kath told Pitchfork, referring to the track he released earlier this month.
Kath also responded to accusations that the comments that originally accompanied ‘Frail’ - which does not feature departed vocalist Alice Glass - were meant as inflammatory. He originally wrote that Alice “didn’t appear on Crystal Castles’ best known songs”.
“I meant no harm to her,” he said. “I didn’t belittle her or make any derogatory comments, I was acknowledging what she had already said herself. I wished her the best because despite everything, I’ll always love her and sincerely want her to do well and be happy. I encourage everyone to anticipate Alice’s solo music, I’m excited for it myself.”
“I was making a point that my vision for CC was continuing,” Kath continues. “When I realized [my comments] came off as shade, I pulled it because I have no desire to throw any shade, I really do wish her the best.”
