Handsome cut
Dave Fridmann remixes The Vaccines’ ‘Handsome’ single
The Flaming Lips producer and ex-Mercury Rev man has beefed-up and weirded-out the track.
Leading on from the sugar-rush return of the Vaccines with ‘Handsome’, Dave Fridmann has twiddled the nobs and made it even more puppy-dog hyperactive.
Following the trend of inventive forms of remixes – edits, demixes, probably bloody ‘premixes’ soon – ‘Handsome’ has been ‘reimagined’.
Not much has changed, but the Flaming Lips and MGMT producer has fattened it with saw synths, packets of popping candy fuzz and at one point, something sounding like mice being slowly pulverised. It’s ridiculously full of E-Numbers and ridiculously good.
It’s a pretty busy time for the indie-rockers at the moment; on top of their upcoming third LP ‘English Graffiti’, they’ve just been added to the Longitude bill, joining James Blake, Everything Everything and many more at Marlay Park in Dublin from 17th to 19th July.
