More lasers!
Dave Grohl designed his Foo Fighters throne while high
Frontman wanted “lasers and shit” for his live comeback.
To celebrate Independence Day (4th July), Foo Fighters made their live comeback last weekend in the least understated way possible.
Frontman Dave Grohl - leg cast up after suffering a fracture - arrived back on stage in an elaborate, extremely showy throne. Two weeks after missing gigs at Wembley Stadium and Glastonbury, Grohl made up for lost time with the help of a dozen guitars and pyrotechnics.
During the show at Washington DC, Grohl revealed that he designed the thing while “high as a kite”. Receiving treatment for his broken leg, he was being dosed with oxycontin. He’s also revealed the original sketch for the throne, which promised to have “lasers and shit shooting from the top”. Most of his demands came true, except for the lasers.
