Listen
Death Cab for Cutie stream ‘Black Sun’, the first track from ‘Kintsugi’
Stunning lead track previews an album out this March.
Death Cab for Cutie are streaming ‘Black Sun’, the first song to be taken from their new album, ‘Kintsugi’.
Slick and perfectly poised, the track’s been released after fans uploaded Instagram photos of song lyrics, hand-painted by the band’s frontman Ben Gibbard and distributed at random.
Streaming below, ‘Black Sun’ is taken from ‘Kintsugi’, due out 30th March.
This is the first Death Cab record not to feature production from Chris Walla, however Walla plays a significant role in recording. Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this month, bassist Nick Harmer acknowledged a sense of transition. “I completely respect and understand why people love ‘Transatlanticism’ or ‘We Have the Facts…’ or ‘Narrow Stairs’,” clarified iconic frontman Ben Gibbard, “And I would hope that as we move forward, people listen with as little prejudice as they can and try to hear the music for what it is and not what they want it to be.”
In a recent DIY feature, Tom Connick suggests that ‘Kintsugi’ could be the band’s bravest, most important moment to date.
Last week footage emerged of the band showcasing three new tracks from ‘Kintsugi’ at a Seattle show.
