We knew this year was going to bring us a few returning acts, but we confess, we were expecting them to be more along the lines of Queens Of The Stone Age, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the Arctic Monkeys…
But this week actually saw Justin tease us about his return, David Bowie turn 66 and celebrate by unleashing his new track and announcing an album, and Prince doing… whatever Prince wants to do.
Oh, and Destiny’s Child getting back together. Nothing too exciting, then.
They’d already announced the release of a compilation album of their best love songs later this month, called ‘Love Songs’ (that must have taken hours), as well as playing the Superbowl Halftime show. Oh, and there was the not so small matter of a new track to go on that record. Their first since 2004, fact fans. We knew that it was produced and co-written by Pharrell Williams, with Michelle Williams also claiming a co-writer credit. We knew it was called ‘Nuclear’. The only thing we didn’t know; what it sounded like.
But earlier this evening, the trio decided to let us in on that bit of their news too, premiering it on mashable.com.
The rest of the album’s tracklisting looks something like this:
1. Cater 2 U (2004 - Destiny Fulfilled)
2. Killing Time (1998 - Destiny’s Child)
3. Second Nature (1998 - Destiny’s Child)
4. Heaven (2002 - Simply Deep)
5. Now That She’s Gone (1999 - The Writing’s On The Wall)
6. Brown Eyes (2001 - Survivor)
7. If (2004 - Destiny Fulfilled)
8. Emotion (2001 - Survivor)
9. If You Leave (featuring Next) (1999 - The Writing’s On The Wall)
10. T-Shirt (2004 - Destiny Fulfilled)
11. Temptation (1999 - The Writing’s On The Wall)
12. Say My Name (Timbaland remix) (2002 - This Is The Remix)
13. Love (2004 - Destiny Fulfilled)
14. Nuclear (2013 - Destiny’s Child - Love Songs)
‘Love Songs’ is out on 29th January, and you can pre-order it via Amazon.
