Disclosure talk working with Lorde and The Weeknd on new album ‘Caracal’

“We’re very picky with who we work with,” Howard Lawrence said, speaking about the duo’s collaborations.

Disclosure have spoken about their experiences working with some of the guest artists on their forthcoming album ‘Caracal’. The new album is slated for release on 25th September.

Talking to Spin, the duo’s Howard Lawrence said: “We’re very picky with who we work with in the first place, so we only choose people we know have written their own songs and are good at writing”.

According to Disclosure, Lorde threw herself into ‘Magnets,’ which was entirely collaborative down to the last beat. “She was involved with every aspect of the song as opposed to just doing the lyrics and melodies and then leaving the rest to us,” Guy explained. “It was like someone challenging us, someone saying, ‘We can get that extra ten percent.’ We totally did.”

Their connection to The Weeknd , meanwhile, first came about three years ago when Disclosure shared the bill with Abel Tesfaye in London. “He was playing his first-ever London show and his support act dropped out,” Howard said. “He was like, ‘Who can just come and DJ before our set?” We went and did it.” The process of working with The Weeknd, Guy added, was “very chill”. I thought he was really relaxed, but I
didn’t feel like he was reserved at all, which is what I was expecting.”

Meanwhile, Disclosure said that working with Sam Smith is “always great,” and revealed that they wrote ‘Good Intentions’ with Miguel “in a day, recorded the next day, did a few adlibs, then we went to the pub. It was fun.”
