DIY At The Great Escape: Stages, Bands, Seaside Fun

The thought of all that sea air has sent us rather loopy. So loopy, in fact, we’ve gone and sorted out a couple of shindigs in Brighton over the event.

The Great Escape: a multi venue music festival and conference, or an excuse to get out of London and near some actual real life sea? For DIY it’s a bit of both, and the thought of all that sea air has sent us rather loopy with excitement. So loopy, in fact, we’ve gone and sorted out a couple of shindigs in Brighton over the event.

So, if you’re off to The Great Escape on the Thursday (12th May - that’s tomorrow!), you can pop down to our Actually Bloody Well Official Stage. It’s in the Queens Hotel (we are pretty much royalty now, right? - Ed) and features…

Young The Giant
Florrie
Moss
Ben Caplan

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL, DEAR READERS!

On Friday (13th May) we’re going off piste with our good chums from Alcopop! (plus a few other likely looking souls - BSM, Idle Hands Club, Ray Gun, Rock Sound’s Ben Patashnik and the like) and doing an extra special fringe stage. It’ll take place at the Pav Tav and is absolutely free - so even if you’re in Brighton but not at the Great Escape itself, you can still come down and party. Win.

The line up for that? Nothing short of spectacular. You’ll be able to catch:

The Xcerts
Stagecoach
Freeze the Atlantic
The Victorian English Gentlemens Club
My First Tooth
We Are the Physics
Jumping Ships
LightGuides
Special Guests (TBC)
Ute
The Social Club
You Animals
Cat Matador
Dad Rocks
Nicholas Stevenson
Elliot

Amazing, no? We’re running from 12.30pm until the early hours. For more details on that, and to register your attendance, head to this Facebook event. Jack Pop! seems to be offering a free pint for anyone dressed in a dolphin suit.

We’ll be covering the event with our usual mix of reviews, sessions and goodies. Keep checking back for more!
