DIY Weekly, 10th March 2014 - Feat. Metronomy, The Orwells, Big Ups & More
News just in! Weekly is now available direct to iPad, iPhones and all Android phones and tablets, as well as online via the site.

We’ve made it to 50 issues of DIY Weekly. To celebrate, we’ve made the free music weekly available everywhere. It’s now available direct to iPad, iPhones and all Androids phones and tablets. For free. You can basically read DIY Weekly anywhere except on the back of your hand (though we’re working on that).
Gracing the cover of our milestone issue? Metronomy’s Joseph Mount.
He’s shaken off the pressures of being a twenty-something in London and with new LP ‘Love Letters’, Mount genuinely looks like being on the brink of huge things. We speak to the man behind Metronomy about his more laid-back approach and why he’d recommend that every musician has kids.
Marking our issue 50 anniversary, it’s appropriate time that we broke the exciting news of our partnership with Latitude this year. We’re teaming up with the July 17th-20th fest - find out what to expect inside.
Elsewhere, Dan Croll comes round to embracing pop music, despite showing off his metal - yes, metal - influences, MØ gives us a bare bones guide to her brilliant debut album, and if we thought getting to 50 issues was impressive, The Hold Steady out do everyone by talking through their ten year anniversary of ‘Almost Killed Me’.
We’ve an interview with Brooklyn hardcore punks Big Ups, one of the most talked-about new bands for some time. Not bad for four blokes who just got fired.
Neu gives new music recommendations to LE1F and Years & Years, in Reviews, we give our verdict on the new MØ, Elbow, Metronomy, Johnny Foreigner, Joan As Police Woman, Ava Luna, Tense Men and Dan Croll albums. There’s also the fallout from The Orwells and Sam Smith’s recent headline shows.
DIY Weekly is available on iPad, iPhone, Android devices and via diymag.com. Grab the issue on iTunes to download the iPad version, download for Android via Googleplay, or simply read the whole thing online, right now.
