DIY Weekly, 11th November 2013 - Futurepop: Feat. Woman’s Hour, Jungle, More

DIY goes to the year 3000(ish) for a free music weekly featuring stars of the future.

The new issue of DIY Weekly looks ahead - way ahead - into the future. Encountering R&B, Scandi-pop, sensations from the UK and across the pond, it brings every exciting new strand of pop together and gives it the loose term Futurepop.

This new bands issue special - available for free on iPad and online - features exclusive interviews with artists who will, somewhere down the line, set the agenda for new music.

Coverstars Woman’s Hour head up the issue. They’re a band who’ve taken their time, refining what they’re good at and releasing two of 2013’s best singles. Next year is theirs for the taking, with a debut album tentatively prepped to take 2014 by storm.

Also promising debuts and a whole lot more are Aussie ‘new wave’-ers The Preatures. They talk giving into their ‘inner pop’, while fellow Australians Say Lou Lou and Josef Salvat discuss how they landed on their respective chart-bothering sounds.

Collaborating with Pusha T and with a boxing title to his name, Joel Compass isn’t letting things go to his head. The new R&B star gives his first DIY interview. Meanwhile, the mysterious JUNGLE give only their second interview to date, discussing their ‘collective spirit’ as DIY finds out about the most talked-about new band in the country.

Elsewhere in the new issue of DIY Weekly, DZ Deathrays give word on their return, the brilliant Cheatahs tell all about their forthcoming debut album and Spector offer a glimpse into why they’re one of the UK’s most divisive of bands.

Empty Pools offer up advice on why bands shouldn’t repeat themselves and Into it. Over It. provides an extensive, excitable and food-based guide to the best European cities.

In Reviews, Cate Le Bon and Wooden Shjips are among those under the spotlight and DIY previews The National’s forthcoming UK dates by chatting to bassist Scott Devendorf.

It’s all yours, for exactly zero pence. Grab the issue on iTunes to download the iPad version, or simply read the whole thing on Issuu online, right now.
