DIY Weekly, 29th July 2013 - Out Now Feat. Drenge, Swim Deep & More
All you need to know about the rest of 2013 and the incoming Heatwave.

As if 2013 hadn’t already spoiled us. Daft Punk, Bowie, Kanye…and twerking. But there’s still more to come. A lot more.
The latest edition of DIY Weekly concerns itself with the rest of the year, and all the insane amount of stuff on the horizon. We’re talking huge headline tours, festivals to lose your bearings at, and some gigantic albums.
We’re talking about a Heatwave. An incoming rush of exciting things to help make 2013 an even more ridiculous year than its already been.
Coverstars Drenge are unlikely stars at the forefront of all this. In the past month they’ve gone from basement venue-dwellers to politician adored sensation, to the point where they’re on the brink of becoming the band of the summer. A self-titled debut has almost arrived, and many a festival awaits the appearance of brothers Eoin and Rory Loveless. Everything’s coming up Drenge.
We also concern ourselves with the likes of Summer Camp, Arcade Fire, Gaga’s ‘ARTPOP’ and the arrival of Chvrches, while gaining the lowdown from Swim Deep on how best to remove yourself from ‘grim Birmingham’, emerging with a stunning debut album in tow.
Then there’s the events: Manchester’s mammoth Warehouse Project bill which brings in every big-name DJ under the sun; Reading and Leeds festival with its biggest bill (and number of stages) ever; Queens of the Stone Age’s sold out UK tour.
New acts Chlöe Howl, Lorde and The Orwells also promise a great deal during the rest of the year, way before the ‘sound of 2014’ spree sets in. We’re here to tell you why.
Basically, there’s a lot going on, and it’ll be impossible to ignore. DIY’s offering the essential guide to the rest of 2013 - read up if you don’t want to be left behind by the Heatwave.
