Dr Martens’ and DIY’s #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour 2014 kicks off today
Funeral For A Friend and God Damn will kick off the run in Edinburgh.
The Dr. Martens #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour in association with DIY returns this autumn, set to lay waste to cities up and down the country. Last year saw Young Guns, Lower Than Atlantis, Spector, Gnarwolves and more taking over some of the UK’s best venues for the sweaty, raucous, super-intimate gigs - and 2014’s leg is similarly not to be missed.
Live circuit veterans Funeral For A Friend will be rocking up for the northernmost date on the tour today (Saturday 4th October), in Edinburgh. “I love the closeness, the feeling of being right there in the thick of it with everyone,” frontman Matthew Davies-Kreye discloses. “Seeing people singing and dancing right there with you, losing themselves in the moment… that’s what it’s really about.”
They’ll be joined by DIY favourites God Damn and alternative rock trio Forty Four Hours, and will precede the gig with a signing and acoustic session at Dr. Martens’ Edinburgh store on Saturday afternoon, visiting the city’s Princes Street store at 6.30pm. The band are also taking over DIY’s Instagram for much of the day - visit instagram.com/diymagazine to see what they’re up to.
Other bands taking part in the 2014 #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour include Eagulls in Cardiff, We Are The Ocean in Liverpool, Los Campesinos! in Birmingham and Tonight Alive in Newcastle. There’s also a special soon-to-be-announced date in London - watch this space.
The dates are:
OCTOBER
04 Funeral For A Friend + God Damn: Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh
11 Eagulls + Mazes: Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
25 We Are The Ocean + Arcane Roots: The Shipping Forecast, Liverpool
NOVEMBER
22 Los Campesinos! + Johnny Foreigner: The Flapper, Birmingham
DECEMBER
05 Tonight Alive + Only Rivals: Cluny 2, Newcastle
