Drenge’s Eoin Loveless makes guest mix for Swim Deep FM
Birmingham band have have set up their own radio station.
Earlier this year, Swim Deep decided to set up their own radio station, airing a shambolic podcast before going quiet.
They’ve now relaunched ‘Swim Deep FM’ with a guest mix from one half of Drenge, Eoin Loveless. His first guest mix consists of songs from Black Shelton, Dierks Bentley and Sam Hunt, with Eoin digging into his country music obsession.
“When I was at SXSW last year, I was in a taxi and the driver had this country music station on. Randy Houser’s ‘How Country Feels’ came on and from that moment, I’ve been perversely hooked on modern country music,” he explains.
“There’s such an attention to detail on each track; the songwriter’s try to jam in as many hooks as is physically possible, and the quality of the songwriting is at such a consistently high level it makes it difficult to distinguish what makes one song ‘better’ than another. There’s plenty of autotune and compression which makes everything sound synthetic and syrupy, which I find interesting as country prides itself on authenticity and musicianship.”
Swim Deep’s new album ‘Mothers’ is out 18th September via Chess Club / RCA.
They play the following dates:
