Dum Dum Girls’ Kristin Kontrol shares debut track ‘X-Communicate’

Dum Dum Girls’ ringleader Dee Dee - aka. Kristin Welchez - has shared the first musical taster of her new solo project Kristin Kontrol. A decidedly electronic effort compared to the band, debut single ‘X-Communicate’ embraces poppier leanings, and glimmers. Speaking about her new solo outlet in a press release, Gundred said “I wanted to open things up and shed light on significant influences that felt off-limits in Dum Dum land. I don’t want to fight them off anymore. That’d be a drag… The music is so different from anything I’ve ever done - I felt compelled to shed the alter-ego instead of trying to morph Dum Dum Girls into something else. I didn’t want to mess with that legacy” Kristin Kontrol has also confirmed details of the new project’s debut album, ‘X-Communicate’. It’s out on 27th May via Sub Pop. Listen to the title-track below.
